Walking Festival Valle de Benasque 2024

Walking Festival Valle de Benasque 2024

Nature at every step with the BENASQUE VALLEY WALKING FESTIVAL!

The Benasque Valley once again became the epicenter of hiking, connecting with nature, and Pyrenean tradition with the latest edition of the Walking Festival, held from October 4th to 6th.

Under the motto “Nature at every step,” the festival offered new and exciting routes such as: 'Sierra Negra, a Watchtower with Views' and 'The Secrets of the Last Glaciers'.

Sierra Negra Route, a Watchtower with Views

Ideal for discovering the magic of the Sierra Negra with a challenging and rewarding route that leads to the summit of Pico Castanesa, at 2,861 meters above sea level. This unique route combines the vast expanses of rock, snow, and ice of the three-thousanders with the gentle mountains of the south, offering an unparalleled experience.

Starting from the Ampriu parking lot, the ascent via Pasolobino allows hikers to quickly reach impressive altitudes and enjoy 360-degree panoramic views from the summit. The route follows the ridge, passing iconic points such as Roquestrencades, Estivafreda, the Ardones Pass, and Tuca Royero, before descending through Picalbo and returning to the starting point. Capturing the beauty of the mountains. Along the route, in the heart of the Posets Maladeta Natural Park, participants learned simple techniques for capturing the magic of the surroundings with their mobile phones, accompanied by a professional guide and expert photographer.

The Secrets of the Last Glaciers Route

Explore the last glaciers in the Pyrenees on a fascinating hiking trail that allows you to view and learn about these impressive natural phenomena. Starting in Llanos del Hospital, the route includes an ascent up Pedra Blanca to the foot of Puerto de Benasque, where you can admire the Maladeta Glacier in its entirety. It continues to the Basetas del Puerto de la Picada, offering views of the majestic Aneto Glacier, and ends with a circular descent along the Costera path, returning to Llanos del Hospital.

In addition to these new routes, visitors could enjoy tours through the Conques Forest, the Estós Valley, the Solano Valley, and the banks of the Ésera River.
