- Isabel Moreno, director of CaixaBank's Ebro regional office, emphasized the bank's commitment to the sector through these awards, which this year "focus on an individual's ability to get an entire organization involved in change and rowing in a different direction than usual, sometimes against all odds."
CaixaBank has awarded Jorge Costa, president of Grupo Costa, which owns SOMMOS Hoteles, the CaixaBank Hotels & Tourism Award for the Ebro region. Now in its eighth year, the CaixaBank Hotels & Tourism Awards recognize "Star Leaders," individuals who stand out for their transformative leadership and are capable of projecting and implementing significant changes in the companies, groups, or chains they manage or lead, whether it be a complete overhaul of the overall strategy or in a specific area, such as innovation or sustainability.
SOMMOS Hoteles, located in the heart of the Benasque Valley, has received this recognition from CaixaBank for actively promoting sustainable tourism by integrating its facilities into the valley's natural environment, implementing energy-efficient measures, managing resources effectively, and promoting healthy lifestyles. The hotels' design, with a special emphasis on sustainability and accessibility, reflects a harmony with the Pyrenean landscape, using materials and structures that allow guests to enjoy nature in every space. Furthermore, the hotels encourage cycling and mountain tourism, positioning Benasque as a benchmark for authentic and sustainable experiences.
Isabel Moreno, director of CaixaBank's Ebro regional office, pointed out that this edition of the CaixaBank Hotels & Tourism Awards "focuses on something very complex: the ability—or rather, the set of skills—to lead a transformation project, getting an entire organization involved in change and rowing in a different direction than usual, sometimes against all odds. To achieve this, strategic vision and technical knowledge are not enough; the ability to inspire an entire team is also essential, without which any change would become an impossible task."
For his part, Jorge Costa thanked CaixaBank for the award, saying, “I receive this recognition with profound gratitude. This award highlights the work of an extraordinary team that shares the effort, passion, and commitment to sustainable tourism capable of generating a positive impact on the region. I also want to thank our clients, who inspire us to offer better services and activities every day so they can enjoy the magnificent Benasque Valley. I also receive this award with a great sense of responsibility, which motivates us to continue working, convinced that sustainable tourism is the best way to care for and develop our land.”
On January 21, CaixaBank Hotels & Tourism will bring together all the winners of this edition at an event at the stand that the financial institution will have at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) to be held in Madrid.
