Hiking routes through Benasque valley – spanish Pyrenees

In Benasque Valley you can find the finest hiking routes in all the Spanish Pyrenees. You can find 3,000-metre peaks split among the Maladetas, Posets and Perdiguero massifs.

For the summits with the most routes, trails and paths head to the peaks of Agujas de Perramó (2,550 m) and enjoy the most spectacular views. For the mountaineers among you, head out along the routes through Tucas de Ixeia, Turmo, Batisielles, Jean Arlaud peak, the Paúl needle, Bardamina peak, Perdiguero peal and Gías peak.

Itinerary: La Pleta de la Sarra car park – La Besurta – Forau d'Aigualluts – Return to the car park.

During your trek you will come across great granite blocks deposited by the glacier, get to see Plan d'Están (a beautiful prairie in the remains of an ancient lake) and enjoy the views from the Forau d'Aigualluts viewpoint.

After crossing the bridge over the Ésera river, head into a spruce and black pine forest, continue through a forest of beech and up to a viewpoint with the finest views of the waterfalls in the whole region. An easy route to make the most of being outdoors in the countryside!

This walk features a notable slope and begins with the unmissable visit to Espigantosa falls. It gives you the chance to check out the viewpoint at Eriste and cross Tramarrius, the Roman bridge, before heading to the Ángel Orús Refuge. Make the most of this short, yet charming route.

This lovely walk begins in the village of Sahún. We head uphill along a stone path to reach the 'Ibones', little mountain lakes born out of the glaciers. This route has many sections of flat grassland, allowing us to regroup and take it easy. You will be entranced by the peaceful countryside as you stroll along this route.

A beautiful tour around the lakes of Posets-Maladeta Natural Park and through delightful woodland along the way. Discover crystal-clear lake waters and glorious green grasslands. Fantastic landscapes in a spectacular setting.

Itinerary: Lliterola Bridge car park – Ibón de Lliterola – Hito de Perdiguero – Portillón Refuge – Estós Refuge – Ibón de Batisielles – Return to car park.

Amid the Posets massif, enjoy the incredible views of Estós Valley as you follow this route. Take in the delightful lakes that have formed among the mountains. You will also have the chance to visit the Portillón refuge, one of the highest up in the Pyrenees, lying between the glacier and the impressive lake. This is a route intended for expert hikers who are looking to enjoy their time among the Spanish Pyrenees.

Distance: 32.29 km
