With the Aneto glacier as your backdrop, the day trip to Forau de Aigualluts is the stand-out excursion, particularly in spring and autumn. It is the ideal location to admire the stunning waterfall as it drops away below. The Forau de Aigualluts is just as much fun for children as it is for adults and a picnic on the banks of a stream is just a wonderful way to savour the Pyrenees with your family. Head up to the Forau in winter, but make sure to do so with your Nordic skis or snowshoes on!

A short circular route that slopes down a mere 130 metres and is perfect for walks with kids. Unusually, you will find the different plant species along the route are all suitably signposted. This is a real fun activity for kids with the beautiful landscape, the soothing sound of the river; the spectacular Alba waterfalls; and a wooden bridge or two: the perfect setting for a fairytale. This route along the Valley is easy, pleasant and not physically challenging.

Enjoy the views from the vantage points

Although there are many spectacular panoramas to be appreciated around the valley, you should particularly head for the large viewpoints which will reveal the secrets of this charming idyll in the midst of the Pyrenees. You cannot help but admire the views over Cerler, Anciles and Eriste (not to mention the reservoir) from the Benasque Valley Viewpoint, situated between Cerler and Benasque. Then there is the Aneto Viewpoint at the Cerler resort from which to study the highest mountains in the Pyrenees (Maladetas, Maldito, Aneto, Castanesa, Gallinero, Cotiella and the Sierra de Chía), in addition to the depths, the heart of Benasque Valley.

Family activities

Canoeing in Linsoles reservoir (Eriste)

Double or single canoes can be acquired at the Eriste reservoir by the hour, a fun activity for a day out with the family. The landscape is spectacular, and the kids will have a whale of a time in the midst of the country. And, if you are really lucky, you might just bump into a swan!

Rafting with the family in the Ésera

Are you looking for fun and excitement? Then the first 9 km of this route is perfect for all ages, with a series of waves rising around as you steer your way down the Ésera river on board a rubber raft. The difficulty level is low, meaning children over the age of 5 can also join in. You set off from Campo, where you could spend the rest of your day exploring the Traditional Games Museum. Alternatively, you could head up to Ainsa where the joys of the mediaeval city centre await in one of the "Most Beautiful Towns in Spain".
